Dr. Winter Goodson
Dr. Winter Goodson is a dynamic literacy leader, speaker, and the founder of Gain’s Resources LLC. With a career dedicated to transforming literacy outcomes, she is a certified instructor for Reading Research to Classroom Practice under the North Carolina State Improvement Project (NCSIP), offering deep expertise in foundational literacy instruction, reading curriculum implementation, and effective teaching practices. Dr. Goodson also serves as a Professional Learning Specialist with Amplify, delivering high-quality literacy training to educators and school districts across the nation.
Dr. Goodson’s passion for literacy is rooted in her commitment to partnership and equity. She saw firsthand the gap between the school and the home, realizing that even the most loving families often lacked the resources to fully support their child's academic journey. Drawing on her personal experience as a college student and single mother, she understands the profound impact of belief, support, and access.
She founded GAINS Resources to build bridges between these critical stakeholders. While GAINS Resources is strategically focused on partnering with schools and districts to implement research-based literacy initiatives, our mission recognizes that systemic success requires comprehensive community engagement.

Partnered with community members and local businesses to design and build a beautiful tranquility garden for staff and students. This beautiful space promotes wellness and mindfulness while fostering a sense of community pride among staff, students, and partners.
Dr. Goodson’s passion for early literacy instruction has driven impactful initiatives for decades, including the creation of an annual free summer literacy camp. Designed specifically for rising kindergarten children in an economically distressed area. For three years, this program provided foundational reading skills to set students on the path to success.
By focusing on early literacy, Dr. Goodson and her team are addressing critical educational needs while fostering a love for reading and learning at an early age. This initiative exemplifies how dedication and community-driven programs can make a lasting difference in the lives of young learners.
In 2023, Dr. Goodson, while serving as principal, partnered with the local Air Force Base to host an unforgettable mock trial experience. The Big Bad Wolf found himself in the hot seat, tried and ultimately found guilty by a jury of young, enthusiastic future lawyers. This creative and engaging event offered students the chance to step into the courtroom, sharpen their critical thinking skills, and get a hands-on glimpse of the legal system.
